The Key to Community
Christ lives in this neighborhood.
Nurturing neighbors, their kids and their grandkids. That’s what Pat Carter does at Keystone Community Center, located in a tough neighborhood of southeast Roanoke. She volunteers countless hours as the director, volunteer coordinator, fundraiser, operations manager … and the list goes on.
Some 500 neighbors-in-need, ages 4 to 92, are attracted to the center each year. Toddlers enjoy weekday enrichment while older kids get homework help. Meanwhile, adults—including the aged, disabled and immigrants learning English—benefit from offerings of nourishing food, fellowship and friendship.
Whatever the age and whatever the interest, needs are met, dignity is valued and Christ is shared.
Souls are saved, too.
This nonprofit’s impact is significant, but its budget is meager. What did Pat do to help ensure Keystone’s financial future? Watch their Ministry Story below.
