Southampton Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, faced a dilemma. As membership decreased, building maintenance increased. The structure, circa 1911, was past its prime. Most of the Sunday offerings were needed for building maintenance alone.

To complicate things, the 25 remaining members no longer needed all the space that they were trying to maintain. They deeply desired to continue joint worship, but at what cost?
